EDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 1 – In the U.S. District
Court for the Eastern District
of New York on March 1,
a proceeding was scheduled
before Magistrate Judge Vera
M. Scanlon in the case of Aziz
Salaam versus the City of New
York.
The case was
transferred to EDNY by SDNY
Judge Allison J. Nathan, now
nominated for the Second
Circuit Court of Appeals, who
summarized it as a complaint
about a "May 1, 2021 arrest in
Jamaica, Queens County, New
York, by Police Officers
Sciotto and Jackson, who are
allegedly assigned to the New
York City Police Department’s
103rd Precinct, also located
in Jamaica, New York. In
addition, Plaintiff asserts
claims arising from his
prosecution in a Queens County
court."
But on
March 1 when Judge Bloom
asked, Is that you, Mr.
Salaam? the answer was, No it
is me, Randy Daniels. He said
he lives in Maryland and he
got a letter to call in, this
and two other numbers. Judge
Bloom called it a first, then
waited for Mr. Salaam who did
not appear. The City's lawyer
quoted Mr. Salaam that he
might no longer be interested
in the case "now that I am
free." An order will follow.
Here for now is a
thread from Inner City Press

EDNY media room on the third
floor, here
