EDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 25 – A tax case gave rise
to an hour-long hearing on the
eve of Thanksgiving
before U.S. District Court for
the Eastern District of New
York Judge I. Leo Glasser.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Judge
Glasser began by asking the
basis for opposing the US
Attorney's office moving for
summary judgment.
The
response was that the now
deceased taxpayer Lax' wife
believe she should only owe on
the estate, and that the
estate is "under
water."
After questions
about standing to oppose a
briefing schedule for the US'
anticipated motion, headway
was made.
Judge
Glasser said he was not in a
position to tell the
Government to do the
reasonable thing.
He invited any of
the parties to complain about
his approach. It appears the
US Attorney's Office will go
forward.
The case is US v.
Lax, et al., 18-cv-4061
(Glasser, EDNY)
