UN GATE, Dec 31
– Inner City Press back
on February 25 asked
UN Sec-Gen Antonio Guterres
who along with his son Pedro
has undisclosed business links
throughout the Lusophone world
about the problems in Guinea
Bissau. No answer at all, from
Guterres who has not only banned
Inner City Press from the
UN since 3 July 2018 but even
banned it from his
softball Q&A at The
New School.
Inner City
Press asked, in writing and
then online:
"February
25-2: On
Guinea Bissau,
what are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on that Umaro
Embaló has
confirmed that
he’s going to
take the oath
of office this
Thursday as
President of
Guinea-Bissau.
The dispute
between the
National
Electoral
Commission,
which declared
Embaló as the
winner of the
Presidential
elections, and
the Supreme
Court enters
now its third
month without
any clear
signs of
stabilization."
Nothing. No
answer despite
an on camera
faux promise
that despite
ouster the
Press would be
answered, here.
Now on Dec
31 from his deputy censor and
spokesman Farhan Haq, this:
"The Secretary-General notes
the closure today of the
United Nations Integrated
Peacebuilding Office in
Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS),
which has completed its
mandate in keeping with
Security Council resolution
2512 of 28 February
2020.
The Secretary-General extends
his appreciation to the
Government and the people of
Guinea-Bissau for their strong
partnership with UNIOGBIS and
the broader United Nations
system. He commends all
regional and international
partners for their unwavering
commitment and contribution to
peace and stability in
Guinea-Bissau, as well as for
their solid partnership with
UNIOGBIS.
The Secretary-General
expresses his deep gratitude
to the leadership and staff of
UNIOGBIS, past and present,
for their tireless efforts and
dedication in implementing the
Mission's mandate despite the
challenging political
environment.
The Secretary-General
reaffirms the continued
commitment of the United
Nations to accompany the
people and Government of
Guinea-Bissau in their efforts
to fully implement the urgent
reforms outlined in the ECOWAS
Roadmap and the Conakry
Agreement, as well as to
achieve sustainable peace and
development in the
country.
Farhan Haq, Deputy
Spokesperson for the
Secretary-General
New York, 31 December 2020."
This while Haq does not work,
answers no questions while
taking public money, and
Guterres is on vacation in
Lisbon, violating New York
quarantine guidance. They are
corrupt.
Inner City
Press also asked,
as to Guterres' murky
Lusophone connections:
February 25-5: On
corruption and Angola, on
which you refused to answer
yesterday, what are the
comments and actions if any of
SG Guterres on the Luanda
Leaks exposure of Isabel dos
Santos of Angola, and as Inner
City Press has repeatedly
asked, what are his comments
and action on the repeated
retweeting of Isabel dos
Santos' denials by his close
staffer Aguinaldo Baptista?
After, for example, exposure
of the corrupt urban
development project near
Luanda for which some 3,000
families were driven from
their homes to make way for
the development? And now after
The Portuguese bank EuroBic
has announced it will end its
business relationship with
Africa's richest woman, Isabel
dos Santos.
February 25-6:
Immediately describe the role
of Angola and the dos Santos
family in the campaign of
Antonio Guterres to become
UNSG.
No second
term - #DumpGuterres.
