As Trevor Milton Trial Stalled by COVID Prof's Meter Runs Will Jurors Take In American Greed

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell book
BBC - Honduras - CIA Trial book - NY Mag

LITERARY SDNY, Oct 3 –    It was supposed to be the last day of evidence in the Trevor Milton trial. But Brad Bondi's direct and then re-direct examination of Harvard professor Farrell, at $1250 an hour, went on and on.

He was still on the stand when Judge Ramos called an end to the trial day at 2:40 pm.

Kurt Wheelock was eager to run through the rain to the 4 train and take it to Brooklyn for the other big trial of the week, US v. Tom Barrack. But the EDNY District Executive, one Eugene J. Corcoran, had been sitting on his application for a press pass to bring his laptop and phone in, the way others had. He seemed to believe that the Founding Fathers, in the First Amendment, had some limitation on the Press based on corporate structure. It was a brewing fight.

Instead, Kurt stayed in SDNY to cover the charge conference.

It went round and round until, past five pm, it was finally said that Milton's lead lawyer Marc Mukasey had tested positive for COVID. Kurt tweeted it out, and waited for resolution.

Judge Ramos, ever practical, said the trial could be adjourned until the following Tuesday. Would the jurors, given the week off, watch American Greed about Milton?

Another SDNY Judge, P. Kevin Castel, had recent declared a mistrial when a witness got COVID, finding that a one week adjournment would break the jurors' concentration. How was it different here? Who would be appealing? More on Patreon here.
