UNITED
NATIONS,
November 10 --
In the run up
to the
November 11
meeting on
Palestine's
application
for UN member
in the
Security
Council, the
report to be
considered at
the meeting
has been
changed,
sources tell
Inner City
Press.
A
reference in
Paragraph Six
to "Israel's
inalienable
right to
exist" has
been changed,
dropping the
word
"inalienable."
A proponent
of the change
told Inner
City Press
"inalienable
is only for
the
Palestinians."
It
is understood
that Lebanon
still has some
concerns with
the report,
and that
Russia
wants to check
with its
capital,
extended the
process right
to the
Committee on
Admission of
New Members
meeting
scheduled for
10 am on
Friday.
On
Thursday
afternoon,
Palestinian
Observer Riyad
Mansour
entered the
Security
Council
accompanied by
the Permanent
Representatives
of Egypt and
Iraq, and the
Arab League
representative.
He told Inner
City Press
they will meet
with Secretary
General Ban
Ki-moon on
Friday.

Meanwhile,
for a
bit of French
levity, the
Ambassador of
France Gerard
Araud was
asked
as he entered
the Council
this week, "So
Netanyahu is a
liar?"
Araud paused
and said, to
laughter, "He
is the prime
minister of
Israel."
