UNITES
NATIONS,
November 2 --
While the
genocide talk
in 2016 is of
the risk
of genocide in
Burundi,
now Rwanda has
put out a list
of French
officials and
their roles in
the 1994
genocide
against the
Tutsis and
moderate Hutus
in Rwanda.
On November 1
Inner City
Press asked
outgoing
Secretary
General Ban
Ki-moon's
spokesman
Stephane
Dujarric if
the UN is
reviewing the
list,
including as
it may
intersect with
the UN
Department of
Peacekeeping
Operations.
(Twenty two
hours later,
Dujarric's
office had
still not put
up the
transcript.)
On
November 2
before the UN
Security
Council
meeting about
the Democratic
Republic of
the Congo,
Inner City
Press asked
French
Permanent
Representative
to the UN
Francois about
this list, question and answer in video here.
He was
cautious and
hoped for what
he called a
continuation
in improvement
in relations
between France
and Rwanda.
Inner
City Press
asked him
about reports
- its
own, here
- that he
might be
considered to
replace Herve
Ladsous
atop DPKO;
Delattre joked
that he
thought the
report was
that he might
be President
of the United
States. In
fact, US now
UN official
Jeffrey
Feltman was
asked about
next week's US
election on
his way into
the Security
Council and
said, “Next
Wednesday.”
