SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 14 – The SEC sued James
David O'Brien for fraudulent
market manipulation using
brokerage accounts in his or
his wife's name to create the
false impression of interest
in particular stocks then cash
out.
Now his
lawyer wants to drop him.
On June 13, 2022
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Denise L. Cote held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The lawyer
complained that his client
wrote an ex parte letter to
the settlement judge and
wasn't complying with
discovery.
Judge Cote was
not impressed. She said this
is not enough of a basis to
allow the lawyer to withdraw.
And so he must and will
continue.
The case is
Securities and Exchange
Commission v. O'Brien,
21-cv-9575 (Cote)
