SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 18 – Kadeem Walters was
detained by undercover police
during the NYC curfew declared
by then-Mayor De Blasio in
2020. He sued the City.
On June
17, 2022 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Denise L. Cote
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Walter's lawyer
described injured, including
psychological trauma. The
City's lawyer said it was
legitimate to make arrests
during the curfew, and noted
the lack of any hospital
records.
Judge Cote
reminded the parties of the
1983 protocols, then set dates
- leading to a due date for
summary judgment motions of
February 17, 2023.
The case is
Walters v. City of New York et
al., 21-cv-7378 (Cote)
