SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 4 – Michael Taylor was
finishing a cigarette before
entering the subway station on
West 103rd Street and Broadway
on August 31, 2016 when a
woman he says appeared
homeless and intoxicated asked
him for a dollar.
Taylor
handed her a dollar and, he
complains, was arrested for
selling crack. He
sued.
On May 4,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Katherine Polk Failla
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge
Failla noted difficulty in the
past in getting information in
the case. Now, she asked for a
joint status letter in 30
days.
If settlement
efforts fail, the parties are
to order the transcript and
move on to motion practice.
The case is
Taylor v. City of New York et
al., 19-cv-6754 (Failla)
