SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 27– Jorge
Villalobos, a physician
assistant at the George R.
Vierno Conter on Riker's
Island, sued Captain Smith,
other Corrections Officers and
the City of New York after he
was kidnapped and held hostage
by an inmate named Peter
Rodriguez.
On
July 22, 2022 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge P.
Kevin Castel held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Castel proposed to the
parties that they schedule a
mediation session on September
8. The plaintiff was willing,
but the City said no.
Judge Castel called it passive
aggressive but noted he would
never send an unwilling party
to mediation.
He said
depositions are due November
22 and another conference is
set for December 9.
The case is
Villalobos et al v. Captain
Smith, et al., 20-cv-9736
(Castel)
