SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 3 – Matthew Jones picked
up a prescription for his
hospital-bound uncle but was
searched and handcuffed by the
police, in 112 East 128th
Street in NYC. He sued.
On May 3, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge John G. Koeltl held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The defendant
have continued to demand a new
trial; in the trial held,
Jones was awarded $30,000 in
punitive damages. There is
also the matter of attorney's
fees.
Judge Koeltl
denied a new trial, and
referred the attorneys' fees
questions to Magistrate Judge
Kevin N. Fox.
The case is Jones
v. City Of New York et al.,
