SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 27 – Two insurance
companies facing an April 29
arbitration in Puerto Rico
squared off on April 27 on
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Lewis J. Liman and
Inner City Press covered it.
Universal Life Insurance
Company is the one which
sought the Puerto Rico
arbitration, claiming it is
being hurt by irregularities
at PB Life and Annual Co. LTD.
They, on the other hand,
sought to stay the
arbitration.
Judge
Liman inquired in detail into
irreparable harm, and
ultimately established an
expedited briefing schedule,
directing the parties to
consider efficiency in the
litigation like agreeing to
make the motion for a
preliminary injunction one for
a permanent injunction.
The case is PB
Life and Annual Co. Ltd. v.
Univeral Life Insurance
Copany, 20-cv-2284
(Liman).
