SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 12 – Shuaiqi Wang was
arrested in 2018 on charges of
conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
On August 12 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Kimba M. Wood held a
sentencing. Inner City Press
covered it.
Wang had
already served 19 months in
the MCC amid the COVID-19
pandemic, and now faces
deportation to China, from
which he came to the US in
2012 to attend the University
of Arizona.
He dropped out
and was living in San Gabriel,
California when he delivered a
package of methamphetamine to
a US Post
Office.
AUSA Alexandra
Rothman pushed for a sentence
of 24 months. Judge Wood
listened to told Wang he had
already suffered and would
suffer more for the crime. She
sentenced him to time served.
The case is US v.
Wang, 18-cr-799 (Wood)
