SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 16 – Tejuosho Olusina
Adewale sued over loans to
Olubunmi Adeola Akintoye,
doing business at 455 Jackson
Avenue in the South
Bronx.
On August
16, 2022 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge John P. Cronan
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
At issue
was a default judgment against
the defendant. Judge Cronan
said he had received and
docketed a letter from a
person describing themselves
as a lawyer representing the
defendant in Nigeria. But the
name it was emailed from, and
the counsel's name, did not
line up.
The
plaintiff's counsel said his
client had not filed a lawsuit
in Nigeria but rather
complained to the equivalent
of the US FBI.
Judge Cronan
granted the motion for default
judgment and awarded a
judgment of over $4,000,000.
The case is
Adewale v. Akintoye, et al.,
21-cv-9485 (Cronan)
