SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 21 – David Guevara
Santos sued 27 Pizza Cafe
Corporation at 388 Third
Avenue in Manhattan and its
owner Hassan Ebraheim for
violations of labor law.
On August
19, 2022 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge John P. Cronan
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Ebraheim had been
near defaulting, but now
showed up. He said he has no
money to hire lawyers, that he
has in fact allowed his car to
be repossessed and turned in
the license plates to the
DMV.
Judge Cronan
expressed sympathy but said a
corporation must have a
lawyer, or will default. He
issued an order asking the Pro
Se Office to try to locate pro
bono counsel.
The case is
Santos v. 27 Pizza Cafe Corp.,
22-cv-1114 (Cronan)
