SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 12 – Michael Smith Baker
says he was unlawfully
detained and questioned by
police in Manhattan's 1st
Precinct on March 26, 2015. He
sued.
Now a
trial approaches on July 27
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Katherine Polk
Failla. Inner City Press is
following the case.
Motions in
limine concerned preclusion of
evidence of plaintiff's
medical records.
The records have
been sealed, as for now has
the plaintiff's criminal
history.
On July 12, Judge
Failla held a pre-trial
conference, on issues ranging
from how to keep from the jury
that Baker was sentenced to
seven years for what he
roughly questioned about, to
mentions of George Floyd and
Breonna Taylor. Inner City
Press intends to cover the
trial, which it is hoped will
also be available remotedly.
The case is Baker
v. German, et al., 15-cv-7296
(Failla)
