SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 8 – Andrea Tantaros in
2016 sued in New York State
court alleging sexual
harassment by Roger Ailes.
Flashing forward to June 8,
2020, when in her case against
the Estate of Roger Ailes for
sexual harassment.
U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Andrew L. Carter held a status
conference with a slew of
lawyers: Quinn Emanuel for
Ailes' Estate' Jones Day for
Fox. Inner City Press covered
it.
Judge Carter said
he was going to indicate how
he'll rule on motion for
interlocutory appeal, then
take a ten minute break Lawyer
for Estate of Roger Ailes said
it might take more than ten
minutes to have a "useful
discussion."
Separate counsel
for William Shine said "the
court has full discretion to
do things in the order which
it sees fit... We will confer
- but, all parties?"
Judge Carter
said, I intend to grant the
petitioner's motion for
interlocutor appeal, it will
be filed on ECF later today. I
would be inclined to grant
petitioner's motion for a stay
of the briefing schedule on
motion to dismiss - or just
deny the MTD. Think about it
.
After a more than
10 minute break, Judge Carter
said, Let me hear from counsel
for Fox News.
Matt Lampe of
Jones Day: We do not oppose
the plaintiff's motion to stay
- but we think the motion
should remain pending. Judge
Carter: Let me confirm - is
that all defendants'
view?
The Estate of
Ailes' lawyer said OK. Inner
City Press will continue to
cover the case.
It is Tantaros v.
Fox News Network, LLC et al.,
19-cv-7131 (Carter).
