SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 27 – Alex Arrington has
been imprisoned on a 2002 case
in the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York.
As he neared a
release date, this case was
reassigned from SDNY Judge
Kevin Thomas Duffy (may he
rest in peace) to SDNY Judge
P. Kevin Castel, who held a
proceeding on May 27. Inner
City Press covered it.
Reference
was made to Arrington now
having dementia.
Mid-proceeding, Arrington
announced, I am going to the
bathroom.
Judge
Castel ordered that "for the
period of one year, the
defendant shall participate in
an in-patient treatment
program for mental illness
and/or cognitive impairment...
This period may be extended
upon application of Probation
and after giving the defendant
an opportunity to be heard."
His Federal
Defender objected. The case is
USA v. Arrington, 02-cr-880
(Castel).
