SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 6 – Manoucheka
Francois was working as a
Metro-North Railroad conductor
on July 7, 2019 when the
Railroad hired a taxi from
Hudson Valley Transport to
drive her to the North White
Plains station from
Southeast.
But the taxi's
driver Michael T. Cellante,
was drunk and crashed the cab.
Francois sued.
On October
6 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Katharine H.
Parker held a proceeding.
Inner City Press called in to
cover it.
When asked
"Someone just joined the line,
who is it?" Inner City Press
identified itself.
(Later on October
6, Metro-North's parent the
MTA sought to have a $140,000
settlement with another
employee sealed. Inner City
Press submitted a Freedom of
Information Law request to the
MTA which would cover not only
that case, but this one as
well).
The upshot is
that Judge Parker said that
all fact discovery should
conclude by April Fool's Day
2021 - adding that "the
parties may move interim
deadline on agreement without
leave from the Court."
This case is
Francois v. Metro-North
Commuter Railroad, 20-cv-4439
(Carter / Parker)
