SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 13 – Amay
Grannison was thrown out of a
drug treatment program in
upstate New York because she
was seen kissing a person
being released from the
program. There is apparently a
rule against romantic
relations.
But what's in a
kiss?
In a bail
review hearing on April 13
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Analisa Torres,
Grannison's Federal Defender
argued that there was no
romance, and that his client
was in distress because her
mother faced enhanced risk due
to COVID-19.
Assistant US
Attorney Alexander Li replied
that since the allegation was
that Grannison was using K-2
while in treatment, the
claimed concern with Covid-19
was false. Really?
Li said if not
for the virus his Office would
be asking for remand. Judge
Torres ended the hearing
without addressing that. The
case is US v. Garnnison,
19-cr-678
(Torres).
