SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 12 – While
many or even
most cases in
the
Magistrates
Court of the U.S.
District Court
for the
Southern
District of
New York are
sealed or have
case numbers
given only
later, on September
12
Magistrate
Judge James
L. Cott near 7
pm processed a
drug defendant
whose name was
not even
spelled,
though he had
a private
lawyer and
five
supporters in
the gallery
where Inner
City Press was
the only
media.
Earlier
on September
12 a defendant
named Jakia
Bland was
presented on
charges of
"theft of
government
funds." At the
prosecution
table was a
person from
NYCHA with
handcuffs. In
the gallery,
with Inner
City Press,
were two men
waiting for
her. Housing
subsidy fraud?
We'll
see.
Inner City Press
will continue to cover this
and other SDNY and 2nd Circuit
cases - watch this site, and there is
more on
Patreon, here.
