SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 15 – An NYU student know
as John Doe has sued the
school, after being expelled
over allegations he stalked
and harassed his
ex-girlfriend, Jane
Roe.
On June 11, 2021 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Gregory H. Woods held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The plaintiff's
lawyer said that referring to
a Magistrate or mediator would
be to no avail, because NYU
doesn't want to. NYU's lawyer
said it was a non-starter,
because John Doe wants his
disciplinary record expunged
and they are not going to do
that.
On March
15, 2022, Judge Woods held
another proceeding in the
case, and Inner City Press
again covered it. Now the
disputes are about discovery,
about comparable cases. Doe
seeks documents about eight
other Title IX cases,
concerning stalking and
non-consensual intercourse. He
wants the Investigation
Summary Reports, hearing
decisions and appeal
decisions. NYU is resisting.
The case continues.
The case is Doe
v. New York University,
20-cv-1343 (Woods)
