SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 5 – The Austin Sanctuary
Network and the Center For
Constitutional Rights sued US
Immigration and Customs
Enforcement for not complying
with the Freedom of
Information Act.
On May 5, On May
5, U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding about the
plaintiffs' motion for summary
judgment. Inner City Press
covered it.
ICE is slow
walking the FOIA request it
seems; ICE says it is too
burdensome to comply an index
of 330 documents.
The underlying
FOIA request involves ICE's
policy of penalizing those who
have sought refuge for
deportation in houses of
worship.
As of the
plaintiffs' April 30 letter,
the civil fines against women
in sanctuary have not yet been
rescinded.
The case is
Austin Sanctuary Network et al
v. US Immigration and Customs
Enforcement et al, 20-cv-1686
(Liman)
