SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 29 – Eight Pakistani
Sunni Muslim pharmacists sued
the NYC Health and Hospitals
Corporation for religious
discrimination.
They blame Harlem
Hospital Center Associate
Executive Director Hinnah
Farooqi, whom they call a
"non-Sunni Muslim of Indian
descent."
On November 29, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Paul A. Engelmayer held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
complaint alleged that Farooqi
directed Farrukh Zaman to
change one of the plaintiff's
performance evaluation from
'above satisfactory' to
"satisfactory."
Judge
Engelmayer, noting that the
parties do not consent to
sending the case to a
Magistrate Judge, said the
discovery is sued by March 29,
2022 with another conference
set for May 5,
2022.
Judge Engelmayer
began by apologizing for
starting late, saying he had
been required to cover a
Violation of Supervised
Release proceeding for another
judge, on information and
belief Judge Alison J. Nathan
in the first day of the US v.
Ghislaine Maxwell trial.
Judge Engelmayer wrote, "I
will be covering the
supervised release violation
proceeding pending as to
defendant Durrell Guy on
behalf of Judge Nathan, in
light of her trial
commitments."
This case is
Ahmad et al v. New York City
Health and Hospitals
Corporation et al., 20-cv-675
(Engelmayer)
