SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 30 – The narcotics case of
Manolo Dones and his
co-defendants, Inner City
Press has been covering since
last year.
On June 4 amid
the Coronavirus lock-down U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Victor Marrero held a
sentencing for Dones himself.
Inner City Press covered it.
The
Assistant US Attorney made a
point of emphasizing that
Dones has 58 prior
convictions. His lawyer spoke
about his child hood.
Ultimately, Judge Marrero
stayed in the guidelines at
the lower edge: 63 months,
minus the 23 already served,
so 40.
Now on
October 30, a co-defendant
Pedro Hernandez had a
proceeding before Judge
Marrero. Inner City Press
again covered it. Hernandez
is not in jail
but rather in
a hotel paid
for by the
shelter, as in
home
incarceration.
Judge
Marrero noted that others in
the case have pled guilty, and
set Hernandez' trial for May
3.
The case is US v.
Dones, et al., 19-cr-169
(Marrero).
