International Bank Is Sued in SDNY But
Motion to Dismiss By April 26

SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 5 – In 2018
Virginia-based Reed
International sought a Private
Security Company licence by
posting a $300,000 bond with
the Afghanistan International
Bank.
Now they can't
get it back, and can't operate
under Taliban control. They
sued
AIB.
On April 5, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Edgardo Ramos held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The lawyer
for Reed was emphasizing the
dangers in Afghanistan, saying
that Taliban are on sanctions
lists as terrorists. AIB is,
not surprisingly, saying the
US courts have no jurisdition
over it.
Judge Ramos has
given them until April 26 to
file any motion to dismiss.
Reed International, after
that, may move for limited
jurisdiction discovery.
