SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 7 – Nabriel Melendez was
up for sentencing as a felon
in possession of a firearm;
while in custody the only
mental health treatment
offered was through prison
bars with masks on, no
medication.
On
October 7 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Katherine Polk
Failla held the sentencing
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Failla
asked about treatment offered,
and the conditions of
confinement.
Ultimately off a
guideline of 47 months she
imposed a sentence of eighteen
months, to be followed by
three years of Supervised
Release.
The case is US v.
Melendez, 21-cr-79 (Failla)
