SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 29 –
Musician James Mtume released
an LP album called "Kiss the
World Goodbye" in 1978. He
sued on the copyright. In
2022, he
died.
On April 6, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Edgardo Ramos held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Mtume's executor
says Mtume died on January 9,
2022.
On April 6 Judge
Ramos said he would stay the
action for 90 days and
directed the parties to advise
him when they are ready to
proceed with the balance of
discovery.
The case is Mtume
v. Sony Music Entertainment,
Inc., 18-cv-6037 (Ramos)
