Containers Fell Off Ship from Vietnam to LA Now Lawsuits Consolidating in SDNY

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 21 – University Furnishings sued Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp for the loss of its containers from the M/V ONE APUS en route from Vietnam to Long Beach, California in rough seas.

On December 21, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York  Judge Jed S. Rakoff held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Rakoff was about to adopt a case management plan when he was told this might be related to a case or cases pending before Judge Analisa Torres, on more on the containers that were lost.

Judge Rakoff asked for a letter on the topic, and said he would speak with Judge Torres on December 22 or at the beginning of the year. He advised that service be effectuated through the New Jersey Secretary of State.

The case is Federal Insurance Company v. Laufer Group International, Ltd. et al., 21-cv-9992 (Rakoff)
