SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 5 – Nationwide
General Insurance Company sued
Allstate, but the latter did
not
appear.
On
January 5, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Jed S. Rakoff
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge Rakoff asked if Allstate
had been served. Yes. Judge
Rakoff expressed surprise that
an insurer as large as
Allstate would simply not
appear, and opined that this
was perhaps the way they treat
insurance claims: with
delay.
Judge
Rakoff set a next conference
for January 18 at 9 am, by
phone since he said he'll be
out of town.
He told
Nationwide's counsel to tell
Allstate to expect to be asked
about its non-appearance.
The case is
Nationwide General Insurance
Company v. Allstate Fire and
Casualty Insurance Company,
21-cv-10483 (Rakoff)
