Man in Wheelchair Suing 3 Businesses as Inaccessible Agrees to a Joint Deposition

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC-Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN NY Mag

SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 5 – Stephen Gannon with one leg amputated and using a wheelchair has sued at least three businesses / buildings for violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, including Hun Shing Corp. which owns 76 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side and H Optics which a storefront there.

On July 1, 2022 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Ronnie Abrams held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Abrams noted that her fellow SDNY Judge Edgardo Ramos had declined to consolidate a Gannon case before him with this case; the plaintiff's lawyer referred to a third case before Magistrate Judge James L. Cott (with District Judge Gregory Woods ultimately presiding).

However, Gannon's lawyer said he would consent to letting all three defendants depose his client at the same time and use the transcript in all three cases.

This case is Gannon v. Hun Shing Corp. et al., 22-cv-1681 (Abrams)
