SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 2 – Freingy Caraballo was
to be sentenced by U.S.
District for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Vernon S. Broderick on June 2.
Inner City Press covered the
case.
It
was a crack case from 2018.
Caraballo's co-defendant got
time served, and his lawyers
at Dechert were urging time
served for him.
Caraballo's sentencing
submission says his "parent
owned and operated a religious
goods store in Harlem." After
a personal tragedy, he went to
work at Domino's Pizza then
Just Salad. He has applied to
work at CVS and Dollar
Tree.
Caraballo applied to, but was
not accepted in, the Young
Adult Opportunity Program,
which Inner City Press wrote
about here.
The
sentencing submission had his
application letter, but not
any reason for denial. He
completed Focus
Forward. The
Assistant US Attorney did not
oppose time served.
Judge Broderick said crack is
a serious problem, but praised
Friengy's focus on his new
son. He said the
sentence would be time served.
The case is US v.
Caraballo. 18-cr-841
(Broderick).
