SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 13 – David Riley sued Ian
Schrager's PUBLIC HOTEL of 215
Chrystie Street for
discrimination, citing a July
30, 2019 complaint against
Angela Alleyne to his
supervisor.
On October 13 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Chief
Magistrate Judge Gabriel W.
Gorenstein held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Riley wants to
depose Melkis Rosado, Dan
Daley, Tim Kirkpatrick,
Jasmine Zhang and Daisy Daza,
by February 12, 2021.
Mediation was unsucessful.
There is a confidentiality
order.
But in the
complaint, Riley asserts that
Alleyne proposed three white
Public Advisors (Ethan, Lucas
and Sasha) while declining to
promote Public Advsors of
color (Randy, Willis and
Steven). "Plaintiff's skin is
light in color. Plaintiff
identifies as black and mixed
race. There is a racist,
classist caste system
throughout black and Caribbean
culture - one that, on
information and belief,
influenced Defendant Alleyne's
thoughts, decisions and
conduct."
Judge
Gorenstein rules that fact
discovery is due by February
12, 2021, and depositions by
April 30, as well as motions.
The case is Riley
