SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 9 –
In one in a
series of Federal lawsuits for
attorneys fees in Individuals
with Disabilities Education
Act (IDEA) cases, the Cuddy
Law Firm is again seeking its
fees from New York City. But
how much is
reasonable?
On March 9, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Paul A. Engelmayer held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Engelmayer directed the
parties to a recent decision
of how on the same law firm,
finding that the relevant
market for comparison purposes
is New York City so an expert
should not be necessary.
The case is H.A.
- "Hank Aaron," Judge
Engelmayer said. Motions are
due July 18.
The case
is P. et al v. New York
City Department of Education,
21-cv-10961 (Engelmayer)
