SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 5 – The heirs of
Brazilian songwriter Jobim
sued Universal Music
Publishing Group for not
paying royalties
due.
On August 5, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Liman
said this is the oldest case
on his docket. It was filed in
2005.
The lawyer said
that now, sixteen years later,
settlement is just around the
corner, that it has taken time
because it involves dozens of
territories.
One of the Heirs,
it was noted, is in Portugal.
But now they say it'll finally
settle.
The case is Jobim
et al v. Universal Studios,
Inc. et al., 05-cv-3527
(Liman)
