SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 15 – Dwayne Dias was
charged with illegal reentry
of the United
States.
On
August 13, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge John G. Koeltl
held a charge of plea
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Koeltl asked Dias what
he had been deported for.
Being a driver for a
hijacking, was the answer,
subsequently amended to "for a
robbery."
This, Dias
said, he was stopped trying to
reenter at San Diego and was
sentenced to a year and a day.
Then he came in
again, through California and
was ultimately arrested in The
Bronx, triggering SDNY venue.
Sentencing is set for December
3 at 9 am.
The case is US v.
Dias, 21-cr-325 (Koeltl)
