SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 5 – Galina Sidanov was
working as a nurse for
Magellan Healthcare when she
became pregnant.
She
requested accommodations, but
found herself being
discriminated against and
pushed out the door. She sued.
On
November 5 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge
Sarah L. Cave held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The lawyer
for Magellan was urging
against conducting a
deposition of Ms. Sidanov by
Zoom, making much of the baby
noises even on the conference
call, and darkly alleging that
her husband is involved in the
case.
Ms.
Sidanov expressed deep
concerns about conducting an
in-person deposition at the
law firm's office. In many
other SDNY cases, virtual
depositions are allowed. Here,
Ms. Sidanov's pro se
status was cited as a
difficult.
The case is
Sidanov v. Magellan
Healthcare, Inc. et al.,
19-cv-5375 (Engelmayer /
Cave)
