SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 9 – Rebecca Bayuo is
seeking compassionate release
but has an active ICE detainer
lodged against her.
On June 9
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge John G. Koeltl held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The US
Attorney's Office cited SDNY
Judge Broderick's decision in
"Lap Seng" - that is, UN
briber NG Lap Seng - for the
proposition that ICE will
begin deportation proceeding
against her.
The
underlying case involved tax
prep fraud.
Judge Koeltl
resisted issuing an indicative
ruling, instead ordering that
"the defendant shall notify
the Court of the status of the
motion for compassionate
release by June 16."
The case is
US v. Bayuo, 15-cr-576
(Koeltl).
