SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 13– Allen Lawrence was
charged with child pornography
in November 2019.
Since then his
case has been kicked down the
road several times.
On May 13 it
surfaced and Inner City Press
was there. U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge William H. Pauley III
held a hearing.
Lawrence's
Federal Defender Ian Marus
Amelkin said that his client
is ready to plead guilty - but
not until the courts
re-open. He said
that Allen Lawrence is not
young, and the matter is
sensitive. Judge Pauley
suggested a new date; then
paternity leave was raised.
So the conference
was set for July 9, with the
plea and sentencing probably
in September after Labor Day.
This is a child
porn case being pleaded down,
without even a CR docket
number being assigned. The
case is US v. Lawrence,
19-mj-10823 (Unassigned /
Pauley).
