SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 22 – Aviril Burke sued
Amtrak for an injury sustained
on March 3, 2019. The case was
removed to Federal
court.
On August 20 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it. The defense
lawyer urged delay since the
plaintiff is still seeing
doctors.
Judge Liman
asked if by that logic a case
could be postponed
indefinitely, and why not have
a doctor testify as an expert
about future conditions and
income.
Judge
Liman said a joint pre-trial
order is due January 14, 2022.
The case is Burke
v. National Railroad Passenger
Corporation et al., 20-cv-1442
(Liman)
