SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 8 – Adelia Ramos de
Almeida sued The City Of New
York including EMTs after they
detained her in her own
apartment for a "purported
psychiatric evaluation" after
she was struck by a security
guard in her building.
On
September 8, 2022, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Paul A. Engelmayer held
a proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Engelmayer inquired into the
role of the EMTs in the
detention.
He referred the
case to Magistrate Judge Sarah
L. Cave, and set deadlines
including fact discovery to
end by December 28, with
another case management
conference set for January 30,
2023 at 10 am.
The case is Ramos
de Almeida v. City Of New
York, et al., 22-cv-2792
