SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 22 – Valdez Simmons,
previously convicted of
domestic violence, is now
accused of possessing a .380
caliber Kel-Tec model P-3AT
pistol.
This was
according to an indictment on
which Simmons was arraigned on
June 22 before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge P.
Kevin Castel. Inner City Press
covered it.
What arose was
that the indictment was not
from the SDNY in lower
Manhattan, but a grand jury
convened in White Plains.
Simmons
lawyer inquired into this, as
other defense counsel have.
There was another proceeding,
and now a guilty plea, both of
which Inner City Press
covered.
On February 22
Valdez Simmons pled guilty.
Judge Castel asked him where
it occurred (The Bronx, I
think, was the answer). It
seems the jury pool questions
are slipping away.
This case is US
v. Simmons, 20-cr-294
(Castel).
