SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 30 – Ameen Keshavjee
was charged with sending a
threat "it's called anthrax"
to staff at the lower
Manhattan gay bar
Nowhere.
On August 30 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Naomi Reice Buchwald held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Buchwald
asked for the status of the
case. The Assistant US
Attorney said that efforts to
resolve the case in a guilty
plea have not borne fruit; he
asked for a trial date.
Judge
Buchwald reminded the parties
of the Delta variant. She said
she has not held a trial
during the pandemic and is not
sure when she will.
She mentioned the
possibility of referring the
case to another judge.
[Another defendant before her
is accused UN
staff rapist Karim
Elkorany.] For now, there is a
status conference on November
30 and 11 am.
The case is US v.
Keshavjee, 20-cr-169
(Buchwald)
