SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 13 – Deanne Gaston sued
Todd Rothenberg for alleged
violations of the Fair Debt
Collection Practices Act, and
then asked for documents.
Rothenberg said no.
Specifically, Rothenberg said
he would not produce
"documents provided to him by
his client 561 Lenox Avenue
LLC" - Gaston's former
landlord.
On August
13 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Robert W.
Lehrburger held a discovery
conference. Inner City Press
covered it.
Rothenberg
said while he's not an expert
in legal ethics, disclosing
the requested records could
get him into trouble.
By the end, Judge
Lehrburger ordered that by
August 18 Rothenberg "shall
submit to the Court for in
camera review the documents
withheld on the basis of
attorney-client privilege."
The case is
Gaston v. Rothenberg,
19-cv-164 (Lehrburger)
