SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 21 – Muhammad Aslam Khan
sued Amazing Store & Smoke
Shop Inc., Yogi's Newstand and
owner Mohammad Salim Sheikh
for failure to pay overtime or
minimum
wage.
On September 21 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
defendants had initally not
hired a lawyer, saying they
wanted to try to resolve it.
On September 21 plaintiff's
lawyer said this might just be
stalled, that the plaintiff
had been paid only $300 a week
and was thrown out of his
residence when he was fired.
Judge Liman
listened, then set a discovery
deadline of January 31, with a
motion for conditional
certification due by December
17.
The case is Khan
v. Amazing Store & Smoke
Shop Inc. et al., 21-cv-6148
(Liman)
