SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 20 – Ethiopian Airlines
Group has been sued for breach
and contract and fraud, by
Spoleto Corporation.
The
complaint was filed on June
18, Juneteenth (observed), in
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York where Inner City Press
found it in the docket.
Spoleto
says Ethiopian Airlines was
bribed into reneging on
selling to Arena Riparian
(which assigned its rights to
Spoleto) four Boeing 757
airframes and ten Pratt &
Whitnet 2040 jet
engines.
One of the
"stolen" aircraft had been
held by the Ethiopian Air
Force; "Sirimanne testified
that he paid bribes of 'about
$50,000 in total.'" A
deposition transcript is
attached to the Complaint.
The case is
Spoleto Corporation v.
Ethiopian Airlines Group,
21-cv-5407 (Unassigned)
