Second Avenue Building Sale Suit in SDNY Has Judge Asking Who Was Owner of Record

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 19 – The sale of the building at 1808 Second Avenue in Manhattan, and disputes about who should pay taxes, resulted in a proceeding on June 18 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Hellerstein repeatedly asked, Who was the owner of record?

Counsel dodged and weaved, being saying, "My interpretation is --"

I'm not asking for your interpretation, Judge Hellerstein said. I'm asking who was the owner of record.

Ultimately he said the case could be decided on the papers without parole evidence, and set a briefing schedule.

The case is Maplewood At Upper East Side, LLC v. Sendyk et al., 17-cv-2914 (Hellerstein).
