SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 22 –
Selena
Staley sued
the Four
Seasons Hotels
and Resorts
for not
complying with
the WARN Act
and its New
York State
equivalent
when placed on
furlough for
an indefinite
period.
On
November 22,
2022, U.S.
District Court
for the
Southern
District of
New York Judge
Jed S. Rakoff
held a
proceeding.
Inner City
Press covered
it.
The
complaint said
Staley was
placed on
furlough on
March 20, 2020
"resulting in
her permanent
layoff" - and
asserts that
the WARN Act
applied or
should
apply.
Judge
Rakoff
questioned why
the parties
proposed a
summary
judgment
schedule
running into
June 2023 when
he'd said it
should be
trial ready in
April. He set
a final
pre-trial
conference for
April 28.
The
case is Staley
et al v. Four
Seasons Hotels
and Resorts,
et al.,
22-cv-6781
(Rakoff)
