SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 21 – HSBC was sued for
charging its customers
multiple NSF fees for the same
item, driving their account
balances deeper into negative
territory. HSBC settled.
On October
20, 2022, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Edgardo Ramos
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge Ramos
inquired, then found the
settlement to be fair. It
provides $1,975,000 with
$658,333.33 in attorneys'
fees. The Class Representative
is to get $5000.
The case is
Chambers v. HSBC Bank USA,
N.A., 19-cv-10436 (Ramos)
