Hugho Witter Sold Coke To Fund College For Son Now Designation Request To Be Filed

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 25 –   Hugho Witter was arrested in connection with a cocaine deal in July 2019 in Brooklyn.

On June 25 he appeared for sentencing before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Sidney H. Stein. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Stein asked Witter, Why did you do it?

Witter explained that his son - identified in the docket as Amarae - was leaving for college, and he needed money. He apologized profusely. He is 57 years old.

Judge Stein said he would grant a variance, while denying the departure requested by Witter's CJA counsel.

He told Witter, you will be 58 or 59 when you get out, it's too old to continue with crime. He adjourned the proceeding and then Witter's counsel asked to make a recommendation about placement.

He was told to put it in a letter into the docket. But the docket, eight hours after the proceeding, still has nothing since June 24.

The case is US v. Oliver, 19-cr-568 (Stein).
